The largest teaching programs are the Masters of Science in Computer Science with concentration in HCI and the Bachelor of Science in Symbolic Systems with concentration in HCI. Our approach emphasizes design, including courses on the conceptual foundations of HCI and project courses in which students work in groups on projects that include design, prototype implementation, testing, and analysis. The Computer Science PhD program includes HCI as a specialization within the systems area, and a number of students are doing dissertations on HCI topics. We are developing a new interdisciplinary program in design, called the d.school.
